Overview

Nestled in the vibrant heart of Seminyak, OKOME Japanese Tonkatsu offers a refined take on traditional Japanese cuisine, specializing in tonkatsu—the beloved breaded and deep-fried pork cutlet. Located on Jl. Dewi Saraswati No.3, this restaurant draws both locals and travelers seeking authentic flavors paired with a carefully curated dining experience.

The centerpiece here is unmistakably the tonkatsu. Each cutlet is prepared with meticulous attention, boasting a crispy, golden crust that gives way to tender, juicy pork inside. The balance of textures reflects the chef’s commitment to quality and technique, making every bite memorable. Complementing the main dish are classic accompaniments like shredded cabbage, miso soup, and a subtly tangy tonkatsu sauce that enhances rather than overwhelms.

The ambiance mirrors the culinary focus: clean, minimalist, and inviting. The space is designed to foster a calm atmosphere, allowing diners to fully engage with the food and company. Its layout and décor subtly echo Japanese aesthetics while blending with the laid-back vibe of Bali, making it an ideal spot for both casual lunches and relaxed dinners.

OKOME’s location in Seminyak positions it well for adventurous food lovers who appreciate authenticity and quality in a setting that avoids pretension. It caters to those who value traditional Japanese comfort food served with care—a sanctuary from the bustle of Kuta’s busy streets. We had the Cutlet Bowl and Katsudon here. Everything was absolutely perfect and delicious. The pork tonkatsu here is truly a hidden gem in Seminyak with premium juicy cuts and rich flavor that keeps you coming back for more. Hot ocha is free refill. The team is super warm and welcoming, we felt right at home from the moment we arrived. Plus, we fell in love with Heli, the sweet white dog who always greets you with a smile! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ A fantastic spot for comforting Japanese food in Bali. we'll definitely be back!

A total knockout in Seminyak! I stumbled upon Tonkatsu Okome on Jl. Dewi Saraswati and it’s easily the best tonkatsu I’ve had outside of Japan. The meat is incredibly tender—it practically melts in your mouth—and that secret sauce is a game changer. It’s authentic, rich, and perfectly balanced. Beyond the food, the owner and staff treat you like family. Truly a cozy spot that feels like a warm hug.

Been wanting to try this place for a while and it didnt dissapoint. Tonkatsu was crispy on the outside, tender inside, and not greasy at all. Small space but warm atnosphere, very Japanese-style. Would recommend if you're around Seminyak.

Tucked away between a convenience store and a Korean restaurant, Okome Japanese Tonkatsu in Seminyak feels like a hidden gem. The seating is limited, but that’s what makes the place so cozy and intimate. Despite its size, the atmosphere is warm and comfortable. The food is absolutely delicious. My fav is their salad dressing (Japanese dressing and sesame dressing )both are perfectly balanced. A great spot if you are looking for comforting Japanese food in a cozy sett.

10/10 experience! The pork cutlet here is premium quality; you can tell they don't shortcut the prep because the meat is so soft. Make sure to drown it in their authentic secret sauce—it’s addictive! The atmosphere is super cozy, and the service is incredibly friendly. A must-visit if you’re in the Seninyak area!"

Nuzzled between a small Korean restaurant and a Circle K; OKOME Japanese Tonkatsu is a comfortable & cozy, limited seating restaurant. There is also convenient and airy outdoor seating (3-tables with stools); indoor has bar-type seating overlooking the chefs and 2-tables that seats two persons. NOTE: This is NOT fast-food so don't be upset that you wait to get hot, fresh, & tasty food. Our order was: Hire Katsu Curry & Omelette ; Prawn & Hire Katsu Set with Omelette (which came with Miso soup). The Hire Katsu (fried pork tenderloin) was moist & tender and the outside crunch was just right. I really like the sweet sauce that is served with the prawn. We both appreciated that the menu wasn't overwhelming, which means that they can focus for expertise on the served dishes. Chefs & serving host were quite friendly and were able to answer any questions that we had. (If you have a negative-thing about dogs, there were three randoms chilling outside - - - they didn't bother us. Just step around them and go in to enjoy your meal and the Okome vibe.)

The highlight was, without a doubt, the Tonkatsu sauce. It’s a bold claim, I know, but it was very similar to what I had in Japan. But then I looked over at my partner, Cheryl. While I was obsessing over the sauce, she was focused on something entirely different.. “The cabbage," she said, eyes widening a little. "It’s so crunchy." She was genuinely surprised by the texture of the chopped cabbage. Most people would push the garnish aside, but she found joy in the freshness of a vegetable that usually gets ignored. Sometimes, it’s just a really good sauce, a perfectly chopped salad, and the company of someone who helps you see the details you might have missed.
